Taken from the book, this is gallery of images documenting time at a standstill. Cuba is at once, as Fidel Castro avows, humanity. It is also proud of its past, socialist, nationalist and independent. While these images of the Cuban people shown in a variety of settings, and amidst vintage American cars and movie posters, may attest to an American presence in their lives, they also reflect a culture more unyielding to U.S. influence than one might think.
